Nice Rack!

Why thank you!

You might remember that some time ago I made this cute coat rack for a sweet little girl turning one.
It was fun to make and nice to give.

I also made this little rack for my nephew, who's name might start with B.

And then before Christmas I was asked to make these racks. My first custom order!

I've been wanting to make a large coat rack for the boys room for some time, and was able to finally finish it over the holidays! I really like making these racks. I like the process of cutting the wood, using the router, sanding, priming, sanding, painting, sanding, painting, sanding...well the sanding gets a bit tiresome. The best part is putting on the hooks. Hooks are very expensive, the ones I used on the boys rack cost more than $12 each. No wonder racks are so expensive! I am always on the lookout for interesting hooks or knobs to use. If you know of any, please link me up!

They used to have a tiny novelty rack, with hooks that hardly held anything.
Bags kept falling off it. But this new rack holds lots and lots!

I took some stuff off so that you can get a better look.
I was so excited to get this on the wall I took photos before sweeping up the dust from installing it!

I also managed to get these shelves on the wall....well, I supervised Mr BC putting these shelves on the wall.
Making them was a joint effort, I routered the shelf part, Mr BC made the corbel part with a jigsaw and sander, then I got them back for sanding and painting. Team work, people!!

They give the boys just enough space for a book, a book light, a few special toys. Their room is so tiny it is a really practical idea and nice for them to have a little nook they don't have to share.

What storage solutions do you use in tiny bedrooms? Do you have any projects on the go?

xx

  2. You've inspired me to sort out my own rack, Mrs BC. There is truly no other way to store school bags! Clever you. x

  3. You're so clever! We had a house so small once that we had hooks all around all the walls. It was like living on a boat. Rachel x

  4. Love your racks. I live in one of those houses when you hang things on the wall the whole thing falls off and you get a hole in the wall. Wish I could make a bag rack like you.
