Last December I strongly hinted to Mr BC that I would like this cookbook for Christmas. I took him to the mall, grabbed his arm, dragged him into the book store and picked up the book. I need this book for Christmas, OK? Please?
I had never watched the True Blood series, but this cookbook was right up my ally. Louisiana? Vampires? Food? Recipes that have a place on the silver screen and an anecdote to go with them? Check, check and check. It must be mine!
On Christmas morning I opened what I thought was an odd looking parcel for a cookbook. It was the DVD box set of the first 4 seasons of True Blood. I was a bit miffed, and put it aside for a few weeks.
I didn't watch the series when it was first on TV because although I love vampires, I am an Anne Rice snob, and I was sure it was going to suck and not in a good way. But a few weeks later I got bored and started watching, and I was hooked. I watched the entire 4 series, 48 hours of TV in less than 2 weeks! Now I am watching it again, but slowly, to pick up every detail I missed when I inhaled it. Every night I wait for the kids to go to sleep, then I sit in my darkened living room and devour True Blood. It's my guilty pleasure.
Do you want to know why? It's not just the cheesily entertaining bizarre plot twists, the snappy dialogue, the cool swamp jazz music or even the R rated sex scenes (well, maybe a little bit). It's for this.
Hello Bill Compton! Bill is the true love of the series heroine, Sooky Stackhouse, played by his real life wife, Anna Paquin (yes, the girl from the Piano). He has been a vampire since the civil war, and is a bit of an old school gentleman, most of the time.
What a hottie! This is Alcide Herveaux. He is a bit hairy, but then he is a werewolf.
Deliciously evil Eric Northman, a 1000 year old viking.
He has a very dry sense of humour, and has a big crush on Sooky.
When Mr BC found out how much I loved True Blood, he ordered the cookbook online.
Now I wish he had ordered seasons 5 and 6!
What TV series are you addicted to?
Just a bit more Eric for you, couldn't resist.
Linking up to Wordless Wednesday!
